Summary
This article explains how to prepare or get the wheezo® device into pairing mode. This is also known as a hard reset of the wheezo device.
Instructions
Generally, after you have paired your wheezo® device for the first time, it should remain available and ready to be paired to the same mobile device in the future.
For instances where you are having difficulty pairing your wheezo® device to your phone even if the Bluetooth is already switched ON, you may need to do a hard reset of the wheezo® device by un-pairing and re-pairing your wheezo® with your phone. You may also do this to pair the wheezo device with a different or a new phone.
To determine if a hard reset of the wheezo device is required, turn ON the wheezo device by pressing the power button.
If the device is flashing (blinking) blue then NO hard reset is required.
(This flashing blue may be seen as blinking blue, blue on/off or it might look like blue/black or blue/blank)
Otherwise, to complete a hard reset, follow the steps below:
- While the wheezo® device power is OFF, press and hold down the power button until it goes from flashing blue and white and stops flashing. (Device will turn off) This takes about 3-5 seconds.
- Now the device should be off.
-
Press and hold down the power button for around 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue only.
(This may be seen as blinking blue, blue on/off or it might look like blue/black or blue/blank). - Ensure that your wheezo device is flashing blue. (If the device turned off during this process) Turn it on, if the light is flashing blue only, proceed to step #5 (OR repeat the above steps (steps 1 to 3 until the LED flashes blue ONLY)
-
Pair wheezo® in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
From Bluetooth Settings, pair by selecting “wheezo” from the list of devices or “Other Devices”/"Available devices".
When wheezo® and your mobile phone are paired, the LED indicator will display solid blue.
You can also confirm if you have already paired with the respiriTM app by checking Wheeze recording to see if it shows ‘Connected’.

wheezo® is not intended for diagnostic use. wheezo® is intended to detect and record abnormal breath sounds (continuous adventitious breath sounds/CABS) at the windpipe (trachea), reported as WheezeRate in adults and children (2 years and older).
When used to monitor wheeze, the user should be under the care of a licensed healthcare professional. A licensed healthcare professional’s advice is required to understand the meaning and importance of wheeze rate.
If the user is feeling breathless, or experiencing other symptoms, it is important to prioritise treatment over taking a wheeze rate. Do not delay treatment. Regardless of the wheeze rate, if the user has signs and symptoms such as, but not limited to, chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing, they should always follow their healthcare professional’s advice.
